Research Computing operates and maintains facilities for large-scale and high-performance computing. TheseĀ facilities are available to our faculty on a purchase or fee-for-use basis and include InfiniBand-connected multi-core servers, GPU servers, distributed parallel storage, more traditional network-attached storage, and high-speed network connectivity.

In February of 2013, we moved into the East Campus Data Center (ECDC) – a new building with 10,000 square feet of machine room space, 1.5 MW of power, and an initial cooling capacity of over 400 tons. The ECDC represents a strong commitment on the part of the University of Florida to support state-of-the-art high-performance computing facilities for the benefit of its research and scientific advancement.
